I love making Exploding Box Cards, and as my dad had a birthday coming up I knew I’d need to make another. My dad plays guitar and has quite a few in his collection , so the First Edition Grand Plans paper pad was my first choice!
I used the WRM Explosion Box Board to help create the box layers, this makes the process quicker as the measures & scores are already worked out for each size, but you can easily make it using a scoring board and paper trimmer or scissors if you prefer.
Lift the lid off the box to reveal another box! inside the first layer I’ve created pockets to pop folded cards inside, one of the gatefold mini cards holds a gift card, others hold greetings and a mini squash book.
Lift the 2nd lid to reveal another box! inside this layer I have added elements cut from the paper pad and adhered with 3D foam pads, the First Edition pads are perfect for fussy cutting.
Lift the 3rd lid to reveal guitars! these guitars have been fussy cut from the paper pad and adhered to the centre of the box on acetate strips, so they stand up and also have movement.
The sides of the inner box have been decorated with letters to spell out DAD, I cut these from the paper pad using the WRMK mini alphabet punch board . Adding red adhesive stars to embellish, if the red stars are out of stock then you could use the clear ones as-is or colour them with alcohol markers.
I made a little squash book and mini cards using the WRK explosion box board, or you can simply cut and fold by hand , it’s quick and easy when you have double sided papers to work with .
