Blog by Dani_Doodle - Insert envelopes

Hello crafters! I hope you're all well.

Soooo, something a little different from me today. We spend so long on our amazing cards don't we, and if you're like me, you then pair them up with a boring blank envelope. Sometimes, you might catch me stamp something small and/or coordinating on an envelope but that's about the strength of it. So, I have started making some pretty envelopes for my cards, and also for letters.

I thought making envelopes was tricky, and always thought you needed fancy tools. Truth is, all you need as a generic envelope in the size you plan on making. I'll show you in just several steps how to make envelopes like these:

Pick put your pretty paper for your envelope. Consider whether you want double sided or one sided card, whereby the inside of the envelope will be plain. I used 'Oh So Sweet 12in First Edition Paper pad'

Grab an envelope and gently unpeel it at all adhesive points to create your template.
Place this on top of your paper now that is completely unfolded and trim and cut all straight sides to size.
Now, go around your template, marking in all corners and notches.
Cut away all marked corners and notches. Round all corners using a corner punch.
Place your envelope now so that the largest flap is at the top and the shorter straight edge is bottom. The top will become the flap of your envelope.
Fold in all sides from corner to corner, like so:
Finally, you can seal your envelope. With the 2 sides folded in, apply wet adhesive to the edges of the 2 sides of the bottom fold.
That is it! As simple as that. Remember to allow the glue time to dry to that whatever you insert in your envelope doesn't stick.
Now you have no excuse to use boring envelopes in future. These literally take minutes!
Until next time, take care.
Love, Dani xx
