Hello crafter's. How are you all?
My children are off school for the summer and it's been all consuming. It's lovely to spend time with them but I do miss my crafting time. Alone! So, I managed to sneak in a few cheeky crafting sessions recently. (for my sanity!)
I'll be honest, I'm probably in the minority when I say that I'm not a fan of making Christmas cards. However, I have found myself making a fair few already. Go me! I try to go for contemporary colour combinations for the season BUT I never rule out sparkle - christmas cards call for LOTS of sparkle. I'll talk you through this one...
I started by trimming down a piece of card from the 6in Glitter Ombre paper pad https://drkcrafts.co.uk/products/6in-x-6in-glittered-paper-pad-pastel-ombre to approx 3mm smaller around each edge than a UK A6 card blank.
Next, using the Christmas Snowflake Die https://drkcrafts.co.uk/products/simply-creative-christmas-dies-snowflake, I cut enough Snowflakes to cover my card panel from white card.
I inked the edges of each Snowflake with Broken China Distress Oxide, using my ink blending tool.
I adhered these to my card panel using wet adhesive. I placed them to overhang in some areas to look more natural. Where they did overhang, I trimmed them down with scissors.
I stamped the sentiment from Little Red Robin and Friends https://drkcrafts.co.uk/products/dovecraft-little-red-robin-friends-a5-stamp-set onto vellum and heat embossed in silver.
I trimmed this down to approx 1cm wider than the panel at either side. I folder these sides over the card and secured on the reverse using double sided tape. (top layer of tape remaining in tact).
Finally, I adhered this panel to a fresh Navy Blue A6 top fold card blank using foam tape.
I love the contemporary feel to this card.
I'd love to see your version!
Until next time, take care.
Dani xx
